4th Winnipeg members win Centennial Commemorative Medals:
On October 17th, 2007 the following members of the 4th Winnipeg Scout Group received their Scouts Canada Commemorative Medals: Peter Elwick, Peter Champagne, Bruce Hobson and Steven Hobson. The medals were presented by Council Commissioner Bill Somers and Chief Commissioner of Scouts Canada, Glenn Armstrong. Congratulations to all recipients!
Registration Date for 2007-2008 program year set:
The registration date for the 2007-2008 program year will be September 11th, 2007 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the John Tyler Hall in the Glenwood Community Centre at 27 Overton Street. Come join us!
4th Winnipeg Venture Company to attend CJ this month:
The 4th Winnipeg Venture Company will be attending CJ 2007 in Quebec this month. Attendees are advisors Bruce Hobson, Colleen Champagne, Cindy Fawley, Doug Bouchard and youth Sully Pfennig, Brandy Champagne, Tricia Fawley, Taylor Penner and Steven Hobson. The advisors will serve as Offer Of Service (OOS) to the camp the youth are in a group called Youth Leadership Team (YLT).
Medal of Merit Awarded to Bruce Hobson:
On Thursday, February 22 at the Manitoba Provincial Council's Honours & Awards Ceremony venturer advisor Bruce Hobson received the medal of merit for especially good service to scouting. Bruce was presented with this honour by Lieutenant-Governor John Harvard. Well done Bruce!
Cubs visit Manitoba Legislature:
On Monday Feburary 19th, 2007 the Cubs visited the Manitoba Legislature to meet Nancy Allan, Sam Katz and Gary Doer.
Scout Trees for Canada:
On Saturday, April 21 the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers will meet at the hall @ 09:00 AM to canvass the neighborhood for Scoutrees for Canada. A portion of the proceeds go to the 4th Group while the remainder goes to various Scouts Canada projects including the Scout Brotherhood Fund.
100th Anniversary Celebrations:
Feb 18th 12:00 noon to 5 PM 100th Anniversary Open House. 4th Winnipeg Group invites all members of scouting, past & present to an open house at the 4th Winnipeg hall for an afternoon of good fellowship & memories. Displays of memorabilia & present scouting activities will be on hand for those trips down memory lane. Refreshments will be served. If you have any memorabilia (old stuff) that you would like to display please call Peter @ 254-2512. Please plan to come early & stay for a while to chat.
4th Winnipeg Family Supper:
Feb 20 5:30 PM 4th Wpg Family Supper - Leaders from the past 20 years will be invited to join with the present group to celebrate 100 years of worldwide scouting.
Venture Company attends Manitoba Moose Hockey Game:
On January 5th, the Venture Company along with some guests attended the Manitoba Moose Game at MTS Centre. We got to watch the game from a luxury box, generously provided by Guertin Equipment. Thank you very much Guertin for your donation of the tickets.
Canadian Jamboree 2007:
The 4th Winnipeg Venture Company will be attending CJ 2007 in July 2007. It takes place at Camp Tamaracouta, Quebec. Please watch for fundraisers to help support their trip throughout the year.
