The Glenlawn Advantage: Advocacy and Outcomes

Grade 10 students and those new to Glenlawn will have an opportunity to select a staff Advocate early in the school year. Your Advocate is a caring teacher who gets to know you as a whole person. Advocate meetings are regularly scheduled and important, so it is crucial that you always attend SAS meetings. Check your Agenda Book Calendar.

The Graduation Outcomes Portfolio is a way to make school more relevant for you. Over your years at GCI, you are required to collect 26 fine examples of the Glenlawn outcomes - Team work, Problem Solving, Lifelong Learning, Communication, and Technology - drawn from course work, as well as from extracurricular activities, volunteer work, community activities and employment. Your Advocate will assist, but the ultimate responsibility rests with you. The
portfolio is a Glenlawn graduation requirement, and as such, must be given consistent and conscientious effort. It will contain proof of what a multi-skilled person you are, a definite Glenlawn Advantage in a competitive world. Both Outcomes and the Advocate system will be reviewed this year. Updates will be reported in the ROAR.
